About the city:

Stuttgart is the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, a state in the south western part of Germany.

You can find Stuttgart close to the Schwäbische Alb, a mountainous countryside perfect for climbing and all kinds of nature sports.
A lot of fascinating castles on the mountain ridges around Stuttgart make you aware of a rich history in this area.

The city centre which is surrounded by wine yards on the nearby hills is good for going out and having fun with good friends. There are several clubs and bars that will ensure nice evenings. In spring and fall, Stuttgart is the host of one of the biggest folk festivals in Germany, offering local beers to thirsty people from everywhere.

If you are looking for cultural variety, you will like the Museum of Arts and the “Staatsgalerie”. One of the best operas in Germany is also located in Stuttgart close to the State Theatre. You will also find several smaller locations with local art.

The campus of the University of Stuttgart is devided into two parts. The faculty of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering as well as other science subjects are situated just ten minutes outside the city centre. It offers great opportunities for sports in the sport facilities and in a nearby nature reserve and smaller lakes in the area.

Unfortunately, there is hardly any aerospace industry directly in Stuttgart. However, Stuttgart is a global player in automotives. Porsche, Daimler and also huge suppliers like Bosch have their headquarters in and around Stuttgart.

Not far away from Stuttgart you can find the German Eurocopter production plant with the assembly of a variety of helicopters. If you travel south you find the magnificent Bodensee (Lake of Constance) close to the Alps and with it Airbus Defence and Space.
