Main activity 2016-2017: SEVILLA.

We travelled to beautiful Seville to visit the Final Assembly Line of the A400M and the Morón Air Base, where the Eurofighter Typhoons of the Spanish Air Force are constructed together with several V-22 Osprey Aircrafts of the US Marine Corps located in Seville. Moreover, we attended a presentation held by AS Sevilla’s former president and the founder of EUROAVIA Toulouse, Alfonso Serrano, about the first steps into a professional career. Finally, we also have met with members of EUROAVIA Sevilla and spent a great time together!

It was really an amazing trip!

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM, is the most important technical University in Madrid, and the largest technical University in Spain. It has 21 different higher education Engineering Schools scattered in six different campuses, offering both undergraduate, Master’s and PhD programmes in most engineering fields.

UPM has around 45.000 students, 3 500 faculty members, and an annual budget of 209 million Euros.

The University offers programmes in Architecture, Forestry and Computer Science, as well as in the following engineering fields (in alphabetical order): Aeronautics, Agronomy, Civil Engineering, Environment Sciences, Industry, Geodesy and Cartography, Naval Architecture, Science Materials, and Telecommunications. In addition, PhD. programmes are offered
in all of the above mentioned fields.

International co-operation is one of the main goals of UPM; therefore the University participates in numerous international collaboration schemes both within and outside the European Union, such as SOCRATES (ERASMUS, LEONARDO and LINGUA), TEMPUS, ESPRIT, ALFA, INTERCAMPUS, VULCANUS, and others.

UPM has also signed a good number of bilateral educational exchange agreements with similar universities in Europe, USA, Asia, South America and Australia. Some of these agreements include double degree programmes, where participating students can obtain both universities’ degrees.

 About the City:

Madrid is placed almost in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula and it is one of the highest in Europe (650 m. above sea level).

As a capital,Madrid is the biggest city in Spain (almost 4 million) and one of the most cosmopolitan.

The main north-south artery is called Paseo de la Castellana (which turns into Paseo de los Recoletos and Paseo del Prado), and it
connects the city's two main train stations, Chamartín and Atocha.

The oldest quarters are squeezed in between Paseo del Prado
(where you'll find the city's great art galleries) and the Palacio Real to the west.

Midway, the barrios south-east of Puerta del Sol leading to the working-class district of Lavapiés are filled with seemingly endless restaurants, bars and cafes.

The densest concentration of accommodation can be found around Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Santa Ana and the neighbourhoods of Malasaña and Chueca (for pensiones and hostales),
and along Gran Vía (hotels). These are also the main areas to enjoy the night life.

Madrid's airport has been a working project for several years now. A new terminal has been recently added which makes a total of four terminals currently working. The airport lies 13km (8mi) north-east of the city. Metro is the best way to go downtown. It is 12 minutes away from Nuevos Ministerios station. Going by bus to Plaza de Colón (Colon Square) is also possible. We recommend to use the metro.
